Progress Blindness. Our systems are wired for negativity bias. We overlook small wins while staring at the mountain of "To-Do" tasks, leading to unnecessary brownouts.
Install a physical record of agency to Shorten the Horizon and prove that you are, in fact, making progress.
1. Hardware Upgrade
Acquire a high-quality, hardbound notebook (e.g., Moleskine or Leuchtturm1917) and a pen that writes like butter. Alternatively, find an available notebook that can be dedicated for trialing this Patch.
2. The End-of-Day Interrupt
Before closing your work for the day or going to bed, open the journal. Instead of reviewing what is left to do, document what you actually did.
3. Log the "Unseen" Work
Don’t just count major launches. Record the high-resolution wins that usually go unnoticed:
“Wrote the first draft of my leadership presentation.”
"Spent 45 minutes listening deeply to a client and found the real bottleneck."
"Worked out for 30 minutes."
"Closed the browser at 5:30 PM. Boundary held."
This Patch creates physical evidence of your effort. It solves the Measurement Gap by forcing your brain to "Save Progress" (and recognize small wins) before shutting down for the night.
We all know that you can’t win if you don’t try. This journal is the proof that you are, indeed, trying.
Duration: 7-14 days.
Success Metric: A reduction in the "did I even do anything today?" anxiety.
The Pivot: If you miss a day, don't reboot. Just resume the next evening. Data is more important than perfection.
